grub does not boot from usb-cdrom

the cdrom has to be internal - otherwise grub does not like "root (cd)" -> not found

this is a known (and old) bug of grub for some award BIOS: http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/index.php?func=detailitem&item_id=11723

you can vote for this bug - maybe then it will get fixed before we release v0.4 ... :)

Hm, doesn't seem they will fix it soon. Should we try "lilo" instead?

as it seems to be a rare behaviour (only specific BIOSes), I would not really like to put much effort into it

isolinux should be the alternative for grub regarding CD-ROM booting, I guess ...

Isolinux is used by the debian package "bootcd", which builds a bootable CD from an existing debian system. I think we should give it a try. The README is very promising. The created CD has features like "install to disk" and a COW similar modus.
