Description

Bug report!

Lucky project, warning!!! Keyboard problems during boot up from cd. Says several times "Using fallback suid method"... then: Scannning for DFS CD... And then:

EIP: [<c037e678>] ide_execute_command+0x16/0x6b SS:ECP 0068:c05cfe34 <0>Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception in interrupt <4>atkbd.c: Spurious ACK on isa0060/serio0. Some program might be trying acces hardware directly.... and so on..... and so on (same message until I switched off the PC).

Tried to disable COM/LPT ports in BIOS and also change keyboard (lucky: If the keyboard is in, he says "ACK" in the error message, when I pulled it out he says "NAK").

Machine: An on 400 Mhz Celeron (128 MB, integrated graphics, Acer PC mainboard and µATX-Tower) + 4 x 200 GB Western Digital WD2000BB drives with SMART status BAD and and defect ITE PCI RAID controller (Secondary port is defect, no drives installed here!!).

thanks for your report!

These messages regarding "fallback suid method" are not import - please ignore them. Personally, I did not think of people watching the startup of the live-cd, so I did not bother about the output. But it would surely be good, to keep scary messages for away from curious users - I opened another ticket for this issue: #151.

Regarding your keyboard: did you try, if the CryptoBox actually works? I would think, that the messages mentioning "atkbd" can be ignored safely.

Your IDE(?) controller: a kernel panic (EIP: [<c037e678>] ide_execute_command+0x16/0x6b SS:ECP 0068:c05cfe34 <0>Kernel panic ...) resulting from access to your controller sounds quite ugly. Did you try it with a controller card that is known to work, too? Do you think, that this is a bug of the ide support of the linux kernel?

For now I would think, that this is a hardware or maybe a kernel problem. Could you verify this by trying out other hardware or another live-cd? Thanks!

You can ignore the repeating "Spurious ACK on isa0060/serio0" messages on your box. It's a known bug in the Linux kernel, which should have been solved in actual versions. Read this thread: http://www.ussg.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/0612.3/0413.html
